Archiving a pet takes it off your day to day lists without losing anything. Its history stays, and you can bring it back whenever you like.
Use it for a pet that has passed away, or one the customer no longer brings, so your booking screens only show animals you actually see.
Archive a pet
- Open the customer from Customers.
- Find the pet and open its menu.
- Press Archive pet.
- Add a reason if you want one. It is optional, and it shows on the archived list later, so a few words now saves guessing in a year.
- Confirm.
The window says what it does:
Move this to archived records. Restore anytime.
Find your archived pets
- Go to Customers.
- Press the three dots button at the top right, then Archived Pets.
The list shows the Pet ID, the Pet, its Customer Name and branch, the Reason somebody typed, and Archived on.
Why a pet is on that list
The Archived Because column tells you which of two things happened.
Pet archived means somebody archived that pet on its own.
Customer archived means nobody touched the pet. Its customer was archived, and archiving a customer archives all of their pets with them.
Bring a pet back
Press Unarchive pet on its row. You will see:
Pet moved back to your active list.
If it says Unarchive customer first
A pet tagged Customer archived cannot be brought back on its own. Press the option and it explains why:
is archived, so their pets are too. Unarchive the customer first to bring this pet back.
Go to Customers, press the three dots button, then Archived Customers, and unarchive the customer there. Their pets come back with them, so there is nothing else to do afterwards.
If you cannot unarchive
Bringing pets back is its own permission. If no action shows on any row, ask an admin.
Archiving is not deleting
Nothing is thrown away. Bookings, invoices and records all stay exactly as they were, and the pet is only hidden from the lists you work in every day. If you need something gone for good, that is deleting, and it is a different thing entirely.
