Deleting a customer is permanent and takes everything of theirs with it. If you only want somebody out of your way, archive them instead.
Archiving and deleting are not the same
Archive hides a customer from your list and can be undone whenever you like. Their bookings, invoices and pets stay exactly as they were.
Delete removes the customer and their pets, bookings and related records for good. It cannot be undone, and nothing on the Deleted customers screen will bring them back.
Archive is the right choice almost every time. Delete is for a record that should never have existed, like a test entry or a duplicate.
See who has been deleted
- Go to Customers.
- Press the three dots button at the top right, then Deleted Customers.
The screen tells you what it is:
A read-only record of customers that have been deleted. No action can be taken from this screen.
You can look, and that is all. There is no restore, no edit, and no way to delete anything further from here.
Delete a customer
You will not usually find Delete on your main customer list, because Archive takes its place there. Archive them first, then delete from the archived list.
- Go to Customers, press the three dots button, then Archived Customers.
- Tick the customers you want to remove.
- Press Delete in the bar that appears.
- Read the warning and confirm.
The warning says what it is about to do:
This permanently deletes the customer's data along with all their pets, bookings, and related records. This can't be undone.
If Delete is not there
Deleting is a separate permission from editing, so not everybody has it. If you cannot see Delete anywhere, ask an admin.
Before you delete anybody
Their bookings and the records tied to them go too. If you might need any of that history for your accounts, export your customers first, or archive rather than delete.
A customer who has simply stopped coming does not need deleting. Archive keeps your list tidy and keeps the history, which is what you usually want.
