Bring your products in from a spreadsheet instead of adding them one at a time. Use it when you are setting up, moving over from another system, or putting through a price change across a lot of lines at once.
Nothing is saved until you have seen it. Your file is checked first, every product is listed for you, and you confirm before anything goes in.
Import your products
- Go to Inventory, then Products.
- Press Import at the top.
- Under Get the template, press Download template.
- Fill it in, one row per product.
- Drop the file in and wait for the check.
- Read what it found, look through the products, then press the import button.
The template is made for your business
It already knows your categories, brands and suppliers. You can also type ones that do not exist yet and they are created for you, so you are not stopped halfway through filling it in.
Opening stock is optional. If you want it, put it on its own sheet with one row per batch.
It can update products you already have
This is the part that makes it more than a setup tool. A row matching a product you already hold updates it rather than creating a second one, so a price change across fifty lines is one file rather than fifty edits.
The check tells you which is which before anything happens, with counts for Products in file, Stock batches, Need fixing and Worth a look.
Read the check before you import
These must be fixed lists the rows that stop the import. Correct them in your own file and upload it again.
What will be imported is everything that is ready to go.
The button says what it is about to do, for example Import 12 products, 3 updates and 40 stock batches. Pressing it asks you to confirm, broken down into New products, Products you already have, updated and Stock batches. Press Start import to go ahead.
If it says there is nothing new
There is nothing new to import
Every row in your file matches what you already have, with nothing changed. That usually means the file was already imported once.
When it is finished
You get counts for Products created, Products updated, Opening stock batches and anything Not imported, along with New brands, categories and more that were created along the way.
What happened to each row and What did not go in show the detail, so a row that did not make it is never a mystery.
