Before you can book a vet appointment, the kinds of consultation you offer have to exist. That is what the person booking picks from, and it is what sets the price.
Steps
- Go to Consultation Types.
- Press Add New Consultation.
- Enter the Consultation Name.
- Choose the Pet Type.
- Set the Price.
- Save.
Naming them
Use what a receptionist would say on the phone. First visit, Follow up, Vaccination, Second opinion.
The name goes on the appointment and on the bill, so a name that only the vet understands leads to questions at the counter.
Pet type
A consultation set up for dogs will not be offered on a cat appointment. If you see both, add it for each pet type you treat.
This is worth doing even when the price is the same, because the list somebody picks from should only show what applies to the animal in front of them.
Pricing
The price here is what goes on the appointment when it is booked. Anything done during the visit, such as a procedure or a test, is added on top and is separate.
If you charge differently for a first visit and a follow up, add them as two consultations rather than one that gets edited each time.
Keeping the list usable
Search Consultation helps once the list is long. If it has grown to the point where somebody has to search to book a routine appointment, it is worth trimming.
Changing one later
Editing a consultation changes it from that point on. Appointments already booked keep the price they were booked at, which is what you want when a customer was quoted something.
