Setting discounts up in advance means your team picks one from a list instead of typing a number, so the same customer gets the same deal whoever serves them.
Steps
- Go to Discounts.
- Press Add Discount.
- Enter the Discount Name.
- Enter the Percentage.
- Choose what it is Discount applicable for.
- Choose the branch, or tick Add this discount for all branches.
- Save.
Naming them
The name is what your team reads when they are standing in front of a customer, so make it say who it is for. Something like Staff discount, Rescue rate, or Second dog.
A list of names like Ten percent tells nobody when to use which.
Keeping the list short
Every extra discount is another decision at the counter and another chance to pick the wrong one. Most businesses need three or four, not fifteen.
If a discount was for one campaign that has finished, take it off the list rather than leaving it there for somebody to apply by accident.
Branches
A discount belongs to the branch you assign it to unless you tick the box for all of them.
Search Discounts helps once you have a few and you are looking for one to edit.
Using one
Discounts are applied on the invoice, not on the booking, so the price the customer was quoted stays on the record and the reduction shows as its own line. That means you can always see what was taken off and why.
Removing one
Deleting a discount stops it being offered from that point on. It does not go back and change invoices where it was already used, which is what you want, because those are a record of what actually happened.
