Analytics is the picture of how the business is doing right now. Reports are for pulling numbers out to work on. This is for looking.
Steps
- Go to Analytics.
- Choose the branch under Select Branch.
- Switch between Boarding, Grooming and Inventory.
Boarding
Total Revenue for the period, split into Boarding Revenue, Day Care Revenue and Add Ons.
Check In and Check Out show the movement for the day, which is the number worth glancing at each morning.
Add ons are the one people ignore and should not. If that figure is small next to your main revenue, there is money being left on the counter.
Grooming
Total appointments, what was Cancelled, and your Top Services.
Busiest day of the week is the useful one. It tells you where to put staff, and where a quiet day might take a promotion.
Groomer Reports breaks it down by person. Use it to spot who is carrying the day, not to beat anybody with.
Inventory
Inventory Value is money sitting on your shelves. Avg Order Value and No. of Orders show what is moving.
Payment Due and Payment Overdue are what you owe suppliers. Overdue is the one to act on today.
View Out of Stock Items and View Expired Items take you straight to what needs doing, so this screen is not only something to look at.
Reading it honestly
One month on its own means very little. A quiet week can be weather, a holiday, or nothing at all.
Compare the same month against last year rather than against last month, because this trade rises and falls with the seasons and holidays.
Branch by branch
Numbers are per branch unless you choose otherwise. Comparing a new branch against an established one and worrying is a common mistake. Compare each against itself over time.
