Record the tick prevention a pet was given, and Happy Pet works out when the cover runs out. Your team is reminded before it does.

Before you start

The method has to be in your list, with how long one dose protects for. See how to keep your vaccination and tick prevention lists right.

You need permission to edit customers. Without it there is no Edit button on the card.

Record a dose

  1. Go to Customers and open the customer. To switch pet, press the pet's name at the top and pick another.
  2. Press the Vaccinations tab.
  3. On the Deworming & Tick Prevention card, press Edit.
  4. Under Tick Prevention, set the Date given.
  5. Choose the Tick prevention method.
  6. Press Save.

The card now shows Last tick prevention and Protected until. The line under the date says how it was worked out, for example the date given plus 12 weeks.

A badge beside it says where the pet stands. It reads covered, due within the week, due today, or overdue, with the number of days.

The same drawer holds deworming. Last dewormed and Dewormer used are both optional.

The date and the method go together

Fill in both, or neither. Saving one without the other is refused:

Please choose the date this dose was given.

Please choose the tick prevention method used.

The reminder

Once both are set, Next Reminder under the method shows the date the reminder comes up. By default that is 7 days before cover runs out.

To change how early, go to Settings, then Reminder Setup, and change the Tick prevention due row. The reminder lands on Reminders, under Vaccines & health.

Each kind of reminder can be given to a role separately. If tick prevention reminders never show for you, ask whoever manages your roles.

If the drawer says Off, tick prevention reminders are turned off in Reminder Setup.

If the method is not in the list

Press Not listed? Add a method under the method box.

  1. Type the Tick prevention method. Brand / Company is optional.
  2. Set Protection per dose, or choose No expiry.
  3. Press Add method.

You are taken back to the dose with the new method already chosen. It is also added to your list for that animal type.

Adding a method needs permission to add tick prevention methods. If it is refused, ask whoever manages your roles.

A method with no expiry

Pick a method set to No expiry, like a spray, and Protected until reads No expiry. Nothing is reminded, because there is nothing to run out.

If Protected until says Not set

The card says why underneath. If the method has no protection time, it names the method:

Bravecto has no protection duration, so there is nothing to count from. Add one in Pet Settings → Tick Prevention Methods.

Add the protection to that method in your list, then open the dose and save it again.

A dose recorded before protection was tracked says:

This was recorded before expiry dates were tracked. Edit and save it again to work out when cover runs out.

Press Edit and Save. Check the method has a protection time first, or the date still cannot be worked out.

The drawer warns you as you choose a method with no protection time. It says there will be no Protected until date and no reminder.
