Recording leave keeps the diary honest. A groomer on holiday should not be getting booked, and the only way HappyPet knows is if somebody puts it in.

Steps

  1. Go to Staff Management and open the leave area.
  2. Press Add Leave Request.
  3. Use Choose Employee to pick the person.
  4. Choose the Leave Type.
  5. Set the Start Date and the End Date.
  6. Check the Number Of Days.
  7. Add Comments if there is anything worth knowing.
  8. Press Send Request.

The types

Casual Leave, Sick Leave, Medical Leave, Maternity Leave, Paid Leave and Weekly Off.

Use them honestly rather than putting everything under one. The moment somebody asks how much sick leave you are carrying, the answer is only as good as what was recorded.

Weekly Off is for a regular day off rather than a one off absence.

Put it in early

Leave entered a month ahead stops bookings being taken for somebody who will not be there. Leave entered the day before means somebody is ringing customers to move appointments.

That is the whole value of this screen, and it only works when it is done in advance.

Sick days

Record them on the day, even though they were not planned. A day nobody recorded looks like a day somebody was available, and it makes your busy periods look quieter than they were.

If you cannot add leave

You need staff saved first. The screen tells you as much when the list is empty.

If you cannot see the option at all, it is likely your role does not include staff. That is a permissions question rather than a fault.

Cover

Recording leave does not arrange cover. Somebody still has to move the bookings. What it does is make sure the gap is visible before customers are booked into it.
