Training is new, and the Training tab carries a Beta badge while it is still being rolled out.
Set it up in the order below. Each step depends on the one before it. Out of order, you end up on a screen that will not save.
Turn it on first
- Open your account menu and choose Business Profile, then the Branches tab, and open the branch.
- Scroll to Services at this branch. If it shows only a Set Up Now button, press that first.
- Turn on the switch on the Training card.
- Under the card, pick the pets you train, and set Default Tax for Training if you charge tax.
- Press Save branch in the bar at the bottom. The button appears once you have changed something.
Turning the card on needs permission to add and edit branches. Everything after it needs permission to change training settings.
A Training tab appears on Bookings straight away, and Batches appears in the sidebar.
Then set your hours
Go to Settings, then Training Hours. Nothing can be booked until training hours exist. The booking screen says No training hours set yet. and sends you here.
This card opens the branch screen, so you need permission to view Business Profile to use it.
Then the things a program draws on
- The skills you teach. Go to Settings, then Training Skills. A program picks its skills from this list.
- The questions you ask a pet parent. Go to Settings, then Pre-Consultation Form, and use Questions. Each program picks one set.
Both can be added later, but a program is easier to finish if they exist first.
Then build what you sell
- How to set up a training program. A program is the course a pet parent signs up for. It sets how many sessions, how long each one runs and what it costs. Nothing can be booked until one is published.
A group class needs its batches too. Press Batches in the sidebar and press Add batch, once the program is published.
Then book
- How to take a training booking. Pick the pet parent, the pet, the program and the dates.
- How to log a training session. What the trainer writes up after each session, and what the pet parent sees.
Set any time
These three can wait until you have booked somebody, and changing them never affects a booking already taken.
- Settings, then Pre-Consultation Form, for the terms a pet parent signs. Each booking keeps the version that was current when it was taken.
- Settings, then Trainer Assessment, for what the trainer records at the consultation.
- Settings, then Training Certificate, for what a pet parent gets when their pet graduates.
Who can do what
One permission covers the whole feature, with extras for the parts that matter.
- Seeing the tab, the list and the calendar needs permission to view training.
- Taking a booking needs permission to create training bookings.
- Logging a session, recording an assessment, and marking a pet graduated each have a permission of their own.
- All the setup screens above need permission to change training settings.
If your account has a Trainer role, it holds the day-to-day permissions. It cannot open Business Profile, so a trainer cannot turn the card on or set your hours.
If a trainer is missing from the picker
The trainer pickers list staff whose designation is Trainer, not staff with the Trainer role. Open the staff member in Staff Management and set their designation.
